Balboa Island was originally a sandbar. Developer William S. Collins turned it into an island between 1905 and 1913. Now 3000 people live there, and on weekends and holidays, the population grows with visitors from Southern California.

The Ferris wheel has been providing views of the harbor and the Pacific Ocean since 1936. Take time for this ride and then go play some arcade games. Once you get hungry grab a hamburger or corn dog and finish it with ice cream.

Go Paddling

There are calm waters in the harbor which is a great place to kayak or stand-up paddleboard. Even if you do not have experience in these sports you can still learn how to do it. There are hourly and daily rentals.
